Design Process
The option is yours. You may just want some advice and development of your own ideas, the full process, or parts of it.
- Initial consultation (Free) – a chance to discuss what you require and what we can provide, to formulate the brief. Subsequently we can send a written quotation for the different stages of the design work. Here we can supply references and contact details of our clients, and arrange visits to see our previous work for yourself.
- Site Survey and Analysis – an accurate scale plan forms the basis for any good design. Other elements include good & bad vistas, prevailing wind direction, climatic conditions, soil type, sun and shade, drainage problems, problem boundaries, Tree Preservation Orders and other legal restrictions.
- Concept Plans – sketches of design solutions with recommended materials are provided, to act as a discussion document working towards the master plan. Your involvement is critical here to make sure you get exactly what you want. Guidance will be given on how the proposed features relate to your budget.
Master Plan – devised from the Concept Plans incorporating any amendment you may have made. This is the definitive blueprint detailing how your Garden will change to meet the brief. Construction drawings of specific features or hard surfaces may be required and will accompany the Master Plan. From this, quotations for construction are derived.
Planting Plan and Schedule – Plants chosen according to your tastes and preferences while being appropriate for the site, as well as contributing to the overall structure and integrity of the design. The Plan shows the location and spacing of all the plants, new and existing. The Schedule lists the plant names (botanical and common if available), sizes and quantities, and is used for costing and ordering.
